Samantha Sosa is a Venezuelan soprano based in Washington, DC with her Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music where she was granted the Ornest Award presented to students who show excellence in academic and musical study. She moved from Caracas, Venezuela to Florida, United States in 2009 and learned English. She attended the Osceola County School for the Arts in Kissimmee, Florida where she was a part of the Spanish Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and an Arts Ambassador. She graduated with a Gold Seal of Biliteracy Award and a Fine & Performing Arts Endorsement. Sosa moved to Rochester, New York and received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Katherine Ciesinski. A major focus of Sosa's undergraduate studies was early music. She sang with Eastman's Collegium Musicum Ensemble for three years under the direction of world renowned lutenist, Paul O'Dette. She is now living in New York City and is pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music under Ruth Golden.

Sosa was a Resident Artist at the Glimmerglass Festival where she premiered the role of Lucy in The House on Mango Street, in the ensemble of Tosca, and covered the roles of Frieda and Louise in Sunday in the Park with George. She will be returning to the Glimmerglass Festival in 2026 where she will perform in the ensemble of Cosi fan tutti and Oklahoma as well as covering the role of Miss Lightfoot in Fellow Travelers. ​This season, Samantha will appear as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with Music on Site before joining Sarasota Opera as an Apprentice Artist.

Notable performances include the role of Little Red Ridinghood in Into the Woods with the Eastman Opera Theatre. Her first role with the Eastman Opera Theatre was as Littler Daughter in Proving Up by Missy Mazzoli. She also covered the title role in Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas as well as the title role in Handel’s Alcina with the Eastman Opera. She also performed the role of Armida in Handel's Rinaldo at the Manhattan School of Music. She has premiered roles of contemporary works such as the role of Lucy in The House on Mango Street at the Glimmerglass Festival and the role of Aparecida in Suzanne Farrin's Macabéa. Samantha has also premiered new works by Peruvian composer Mark Contreras Waiss. In regards to musical theater, she has performed the roles of Little Red Ridinghood, Rapunzel, and covered Cinderella in Into the Woods, as well as Maria in West Side Story.

Sosa was also a young artist in the Janiec Opera Company of the Brevard Music Center where she sang in a masterclass for Patti LuPone and performed with her. She also participated in Frederica von Stade's Master Class at the Manhattan School of Music She attended musical theater and acting training programs in New York City and in Los Angeles such as Open Jar Institute and Cynthia Bain's Young Actor Studio.
Samantha was recently awarded second place in the Pittsburgh Festival Opera Mildred Miller International Voice Competition and received the Encouragement Award at the Opera Index Competition. She is also a two-time recipient of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Encouragement Award for the Pittsburgh District in both the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. She has also competed at the Musical International Grand Prix in New York City, winning 2nd and 3rd place in the classical and musical theater categories, and at the Classical Singer Vocal Competition in Chicago, where she was a finalist in both the classical and musical theater categories.

In concert, Ms. Sosa has performed as a soprano soloist the Mozart's C Minor Mass in Kodak Hall conducted by Dr. Anna Lenti and Beethoven's Mass in C in Kodak Hall conducted by Dr. William Weinert. With Eastman's Bach Cantata Series she performed Bach's Magnificat in D Major and Bach Cantata: BWV 79. She also performed Rutter's Magnificat with Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY. With Eastman's Collegium Musicum she sang The Plaint and The Night in Henry Purcell's The Fairy Queen as well Luigi Rossi's Noi siam tre donzellette with Dr. Anna Lenti and Alissa Magee in Kodak Hall.
Her debut album, "A Sosa-Miller Holiday" (christmas and holiday music in collaboration with American clarinetist Michael Miller) was released in winter of 2021. The second volume was released in 2024. As an actor, she portrayed Mariette in the film The Saints of the Rue Scribe, which won 29 various Film Festival Awards.
Offstage, Samantha founded the Latine Student Alliance, an identity-based student organization for Latinx and Hispanic students at Manhattan School of Music, and is also the Voice Representative for the Classical Voice students at Manhattan School of Music. In her free time, Samantha enjoys exercising, reading, and spending time with family, friends, and her pets Nilla and Tango!
